BATMAN

July 26th, 2008

Congratulations to everybody that worked on "BATMAN" it is turning into a record breaker. Paul Jennings the stunt coordinator and all his crew have done a great job. Chris Corbould and the special effects crew also have pulled out all the stops and made a major contribution to the movie, it would not be anywhere near as good without their combined talents. Chris's crew also built the enormous BAT BIKE which is a revolutionary machine and stunning to look at and a marvel of engineering. It was piloted by Jean-Pierre Goy one of the great motor cycle stunt riders around today. J-P rode the BMW for me on "TOMORROW NEVER DIES" in 1997 with my wife Wendy sitting on the handle bars and various other positions doubling Michelle Yeogh while he did some absolutely amazing tricks with the bike including wheelie's and the jump over the helicopter at the end of the chase, which is still considered the best bang for your buck as far as chases go. J-P said to me one day "Vic I am so honored that you trust your wife's life to me during all these motorcycle stunts" and I answered him "yes J-P but you do not know how much I have her insured for !!!"  It is so sad about Heath Ledger he was such a talent and after I worked with him on "THE FOUR FEATHERS" I tipped him as the next Harrison Ford. Jordi Casares and myself worked with him on his horseback riding and got him to do a pony express mount in amongst the 200 hundred charging dervishes during the battle sequence, you see him get off the ground, catch the loose horse, vault on and gallop into a close up. I was so impressed that I included the stunt in my show reel which you can see on this site.

Jean - Pierre has a website where you can see his amazing array of talents, to access it click on the LINK opposite or go to:

SHANGHAI IN BANGKOK

July 22nd, 2008

Hi everybody, I first must apologize for taking time off from updating the website. Wendy & I spent some time at our place in Los Angeles and did some house remodeling. I then did some work with Tom Cruise and it was great fun seeing him again and he is as game as ever doing his own stunts, if I had stayed longer I would have asked him for tickets to the LA Galaxy to see his mate David Beckham play, maybe next time. While I was in town I saw several cuts of MUMMY 3 with Rob Cohen and the more I saw the more excited I was about the final film, it really zips along at a great pace and Rob has done a fantastic job in a) directing it, and b) in editing it, he has given it his distinctive look and feel as you would expect from the director of "xXx" and "FAST & FURIOUS". I am currently in Bangkok and there are posters everywhere advertising it and the locals are dying to see it.

Talking of Bangkok, I am here for Harvey Weinstein working an on a movie called "SHANGHAI" which is directed by a very talented director called Mikael Hafstrom who's last film "1408" was a big hit. This movie is set in almost the same period as MUMMY 3 but deals with the Japanese invasion of Shanghai. In the photo above I am with some Thai friends, on the left is Prachya (Prach) Pinkaew, Prach directed the amazing Thai action movie "ONG BAK" between him and myself is my great friend for over 15 years Kawee (Seng) Sirikhanaerut, Seng is my stunt coordinator here in Thailand, he is the #1 and has worked on many international movies around the World, on my left is Panna (Kitt) Rittikrai, Kit is Seng's teacher and mentor and was the fight choreographer and action director on "ONG BAK". This will be my 10th show in Thailand and the last time I was here I directed a commercial for RANGE ROVER that went on to win several awards and it is always fun to come here and meet all my friends again, many like Seng have now moved on to much higher positions. It is also great to see how the Thai film industry is expanding and coming on par with the rest of the World as far as technicians goes, the locations Thailand has to offer are as before also stunning. Plus the tropical hot and humid conditions help my aching bones and I play some of my best golf here !!

All for now FOLK's but I promise I will keep the site up to date regularly

SAG AWARDS

January 13th, 2008

I was pleasntly surprised to get a call the other evening informing me that myself Wendy and all the other stunt performers on "I AM LEGEND" are nominated for a SAG award. This is a new category so it is very exciting and rewarding to get nominated.

The award ceremony is at the end of January so Wendy and I will try and get there, keep your fingers crossed we are up against some tough opposition.

Above is a photo of my great friend Jordi Casares, when the photo was taken we were in China on MI 3. Jordi was recently stunt coordinator on "Charlie Wilson’s War". I have not seen Jordi since my birthday in New York when he flew in as a surprise guest and he is arriving here in the UK from Spain tomorrow along with another great friend Bronco McLoughlin, Bronco was the missionary going over the falls at the start of "The Mission".

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A FALL GUY

January 8th, 2008

Happy and prosperous New Year to you all, I am back in the UK briefly and have just put the Xmas decorations away for another year.

One of the great presents I received was a book titled "THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A FALL GUY". The book is written by one of the greatest stuntmen of all time JOE POWELL, this is must reading for anybody with the slightest interest in the film world and or the stunt world.

When I started in the business Joe was a giant and was one of the people I tried to model myself on, he did some of the greatest stunts in an age that did not have the benefit of the modern technology that we have today, it was all achieved with talent, instinct and sheer guts.

I salute him and urge you all to buy and read his book, it is available @ Amazon.com

This is a photo of me sadly leaving the fantastic set of MUMMY 3 on my last night in Shanghai.

XMAS

December 14th, 2007

Hi everybody, I am now back in the UK catching up on all the paper work that has accumulated since I have been away and also getting ready for Xmas which is one of my favorite times of the year.

I hope to keep you all up to speed with the new work that is coming in but I am taking time off until January before I start anything else. MUMMY 3 was a great experience and one of the most enjoyable films I have worked on for many years mainly due to Rob Cohen’s fantastic attitude and demeanor, it was a refreshing change I must say.

Here is a photo inside IMHOTEPS night club where Wendy and I along with Rob Cohen had little cameo roles, from L-R Wendy, Myself, John Hannah and Liam Cunningham.

Anyway keep writing in folks and I will endeavor to answer all your questions, have a great holiday season and lets look forwards to a great 2008 with some other new film to look anticipate.

BOND MEETS MUMMY

November 26th, 2007

Hi everyone, I apologize for not writing for such a long time but it has been incredibly busy but we are now almost wrapped so I will have more time to write. Rob Cohen has also been keeping you all up to date with his fantastic website as well.

Here is Michelle Yeoh on her last day with us and she is surrounded by all her friends from the Bond we did together "TOMORROW NEVER DIES" these are my AD, camera crew and grips and we have done many pictures together all over the world. It was lovely working with her again she is such a beautiful person inside and  out.

This week Rob Cohen is shooting the interior of IMHOTEP’S night club and then that is it we all go our separate ways ! This has been an exceptionally great film to work on with a wonderful international crew with Rob at the helm and he has led by example.

I look forwards to our next collaboration.

LEAVING TIAN MO

October 18th, 2007

Here is a quick picture of some of the stunt team just before I leave Tian Mo for Shanghai. The little misunderstanding has been sorted out, it was confusion on my part.

This is my son Scott on the left, actor Luke Ford in the middle and my nephew James on the right. Luke is a fully fledged part of the stunt team now and is throwing himself headlong into all the action like the professional he is. Luke stays behind in Tian Mo working with Rob Cohen to continue shooting the huge finale and then we will all meet up again in Shanghai for the chase sequence.

BLOG UPDATE plus STARFAIR

October 17th, 2007

Hi everybody, it appears there may have been some misunderstanding regarding my blogs. Once I have cleared everything up I will give you some  more news.

I am in the process of leaving Tian Mo, Beijing and heading to Shanghai to prepare a big chase sequence there. Once I get settled I will give you all an update. Thanks again.

In the meantime anybody in Southern California should mark down December 7th, 8th ,& 9th and head to one of my favourite places Palm Springs to visit "STARFAIR" which is an event organized by the Palm Springs Walk of Stars called the "Classic Film Festival" and it will be attended by lots of  stars & film makers that have been honored with a star on the sidewalk in Palm Springs such as Tony Curtis, Rhonda Fleming, Tab Hunter, Carroll Baker, Trini Lopez, Lindsay Wagner & Jane Russell to name just a few.

In 2005  I was lucky enough to have been honored with a star which is situated at 266 South Palm Canyon Drive and depending on my work commitments I am planning on attending the Festival which will also be screening 26 classic films that have been shot in Palm Springs. If I can make it there I will be happy to buy you a drink.
